Mineral wool fireproofing material can achieve a typical 2 hour fire resistant, and provide thermal insulation in one application, depending on installed thickness.

Steel buildings can be insulated with mineral wool fire resistant materials offering a design R value of 4 per inch. A typical 2 hour rated wall assembly would be insulated to achieve a design R value of 10.
